Glowing skin this summer, here you come
Summer is one of the most unforgiving times of year for skin. Bright sunlight highlights peach fuzz. Humidity, sweat and sunscreen can clog pores. Heat and UV rays trigger dark spots and sun damage. But with a smart skincare routine, you can keep your complexion clear, glowing and fuzz-free. Here are the 8 essential steps you need. And don’t stress when you hear “8 steps”—you don’t need to do each step every day. This plan is customizable to suit your skin’s specific needs.
Step 1: Cleanse Gently Every Morning
A proper morning cleanse is the foundation everything else builds on. In summer, you want to remove the oil and bacteria that accumulate overnight — but without stripping your skin’s natural moisture barrier in the process.
Use lukewarm water and a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser. If you have normal, oily, or combination skin, a lightweight gel formula is ideal for summer. Dry or sensitive skin types can stick with something creamier. Finish with a few splashes of cool water.
Step 2: Exfoliate with Sonic Dermaplaning
This is the step that changes everything. Sonic dermaplaning with DERMAFLASH LUXE+ removes peach fuzz—which catches sunlight and can make skin look dull—and delivers deep yet gentle exfoliation at the same time. It only needs to be done once a week to deliver transformative results.
The results speak for themselves: after just four weeks, 100% of our testers said skin looked more even. And in a clinical study (where skin was analyzed with scientific instruments), 97% had less visible fine lines and wrinkles.
One important note: dermaplaning reveals fresh, new skin that’s temporarily more sensitive to UV exposure. Avoid direct sun for 48–72 hours after your session, and wear SPF 30 or higher daily.
Step 3: Keep Your Pores Clear
Summer is peak pore-clogging season. Heat, humidity, and heavy sunscreen formulas are a perfect storm for congestion — and picking or squeezing only makes it worse.
DERMAPORE+ combines Ultrasonic and Ionic Technology to gently dislodge and extract pore-clogging debris without irritation or damage to the skin barrier. Mist your face with PREP MIST to soften and loosen clogs, then glide the spatula across skin at a 45° angle.
When pores are gunk-free, they look smaller and tighter. After just one use, 97% of testers saw a significant reduction in pore size.
Step 4: Refresh with a Daily Exfoliating Toner
Think of your toner as the layer that extends and amplifies everything else in your routine. A gentle, daily exfoliating toner like Botanical Ketoacid Toner promotes cellular turnover, minimizes the look of pores, and keeps skin texture smooth between your weekly Sonic Dermaplaning sessions.
Look for a formula with encapsulated salicylic acid (which dissolves pore-clogging oil without drying you out) and gentle AHAs like lactic and malic acids (which resurface without compromising your skin’s protective barrier). Skip anything alcohol-based.
Step 5: Add a Targeted Brightening Serum
Here’s something most people don’t know: prolonged exposure to heat — not just UV rays — can trigger hyperpigmentation. So even if you’re religious about SPF, summer can still bring out dark spots. A brightening serum is your best defense.
HYDRAFLASH Active Cocooning Serum includes Niacinamide to support your skin’s barrier and brighten without irritation. After four weeks, 94% of testers said skin looks brighter.
Step 6: Depuff + Sculpt with Cooling Lymphatic Drainage
Summer travel can lead to puffy eyes, dehydrated skin and swelling (especially if salty food or poolside cocktails are in the mix). What’s more, heat can worsen inflammation.
DERMAFLASH COOL uses SonicCool™ + Copper Technology to instantly soothe and depuff. High-level sonic waves and the custom Copper Cooling Dome work together to support lymphatic drainage, reduce swelling and visibly calm inflammation. It’s a spa-grade cooling facial massage you can do anytime, anywhere. It cools in seconds— and because it doesn’t need to be stored in the freezer (unlike old-fashioned ice rollers), it’s ideal for taking on your summer vacay.
Step 7: SPF — Every Single Day, No Exceptions
Wearing broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day is essential — especially in summer, when UV rays are more intense and you’re spending more time outdoors. Sun exposure causes wrinkles, discoloration, collagen breakdown, and loss of elasticity. SPF prevents it before it starts.
If you have sensitive skin, try a mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide. Tinted formulars avoid white cast and give you a hint of coverage, too. Apply every day and make sure to reapply every two hours if you’re spending time outdoors.
Step 8: Double Cleanse at Night
If you’re wearing SPF in summer (yes, you are — see Step 7!), double cleansing at night isn’t optional. Sunscreen doesn’t fully lift with one cleanse alone. Leaving it on your skin overnight creates the conditions for clogged pores, free radical damage, and collagen breakdown — the opposite of everything else you’re doing.
For your first cleanse, start with a dry face and a cleansing oil, balm or micellar water. Massage into dry skin to dissolve sunscreen and makeup, then rinse. Then, while your skin is still slightly damp, massage a gentle cleanser over your face to remove any remaining impurities. That’s your second cleanse. Rinse and you’re done.
The Bottom Line
Summer skin is about working smarter, not harder. Cleanse gently, exfoliate consistently, keep pores clear, protect aggressively — and let your tools do the heavy lifting. These eight steps will you get there.
